The members of the drug group supplied the “goods” ready for sale to the Drohobych correctional colony. The operation was conducted in two stages.
The leader of the criminal group, while behind bars, set up a scheme for the supply and sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances to the territory of the Drohobych Correctional Colony. In order to sell prohibited substances among the convicts, the offender involved a number of “trusted” persons, both from among the prisoners and from outside the penitentiary institution, in the drug trafficking. The latter were responsible for the formation of “orders” and their “transfer” through the guarded perimeter to the prison territory. One of the participants was directly responsible for the operation of drug laboratories.
Law enforcement officers also established their location. The premises of two private houses in Lviv district were equipped with special heating, lighting, automatic irrigation, soil and air fertilization systems, etc. Later, the goods ready for sale were handed over to the defendants for delivery to the correctional facility.
On March 5, the police conducted the first stage of the operation and detained two suspects while transferring another batch to the penitentiary. Then they and two other accomplices were served suspicion notices.
On March 12, operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region, together with investigators of the Investigation Department of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, neutralized the activities of the laboratories and detained a member of the group responsible for their operation.
As a result of the second stage of the operation, the police seized cannabis worth UAH 10 million.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 310 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Sowing or growing of sleeping poppies or hemp).
Currently, all the exposed members of the drug group are in custody.
The operation was conducted jointly with the operational department of the Drohobych Correctional Colony No. 40. Procedural supervision in the pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
