Lviv Police Arrest Suspect in Pensioner Robbery

In Lviv, police officers detained a suspect in the robbery of a pensioner. The detainee faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to ten years.

Details of the Incident

On February 17, at around 11:30 am, the police received a report from a 75-year-old Lviv resident stating that on Truskavetska Street in Lviv, an unknown man snatched a bag from her hands containing money, a bank card, a mobile phone, and other personal items, and fled.

To solve the crime, operatives from the criminal police, investigators, and officers from other services of Lviv District Police Department No. 2, as well as analysts from the Crime Analysis Department and criminal investigation operatives of Lviv police, were involved.

Investigation and Arrest

Law enforcement conducted a series of operational and investigative measures, reviewed surveillance camera footage from the ‘Safe Lviv’ system, identified the whereabouts of the perpetrator, and arrested him under Article 208 of the Ukrainian Criminal Procedure Code. The suspect is a 30-year-old resident of Lviv.

Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of being suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.

Law enforcement once again reminds that under martial law conditions, maximum penalties are provided for theft, robbery, assault, extortion, as well as for appropriation, embezzlement, or acquisition of property through abuse of official position.
