Chervonohrad police detain attacker suspected of murdering friend
According to law enforcement officers, during a domestic conflict, the detainee stabbed his victim numerous times in various parts of the body, causing fatal injuries. He faces a sentence of imprisonment for up to fifteen years for his crime.
On August 6, at about seven in the morning, the 102 operational line received a report that the body of a man with signs of violent death had been found in an apartment in a house on Ivasyuk Street in Chervonohrad.
The investigative team and officers of other services of the Chervonohrad District Police Department arrived at the scene. Law enforcers identified the deceased as a local resident aged 43, who had stab wounds on his body.
The investigation revealed that the deceased was visiting his friend, a 71-year-old local resident. The men drank alcohol and a conflict arose between them, during which the host stabbed his guest several times in the back and other parts of the body, causing injuries that killed him.
Law enforcement officers detained the offender in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Chervonohrad District Prosecutor’s Office, served him a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 115 (Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.
