Men who tried to illegally cross the state border through bribery were exposed at the checkpoints “Shegini” and “Rava-Ruska” in the Lviv region
Yesterday evening, a 41-year-old man was followed to the neighboring country, who presented a passport of a US citizen to pass the control.
However, during the inspection, the border guards established that the “foreigner” is a citizen of Ukraine. The man’s exposure did not stop him, and after being refused a border crossing, he tried to “solve the issue” by bribery. In order to avoid responsibility and cross the border unhindered, the pseudo-foreigner offered a bribe of $1,000, which was flatly refused.
The man was not allowed to cross the border and was brought to administrative responsibility under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Procedure Code “Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine.” The court will provide a legal evaluation of his actions.
In another case, a 32-year-old native of the Zaporozhye region claimed that he was accompanying a disabled person while crossing the border. However, the husband did not provide proper documents confirming his wife’s disability for verification. In order to get his way and go abroad, the citizen offered a bribe in the amount of 500 US dollars, which was refused.
According to these facts, the border guards informed the employees of the National Police. Liability for these offenses is provided for in Art. 369 of the Criminal Code “Offering or providing an unlawful benefit to an official”.
The bribe-takers were handed over to the law enforcement officers.
