Two residents of Donetsk Oblast and one resident of Luhansk Oblast were found guilty of a public indictment by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. They were convicted of treason, participation in a terrorist organization and activities of armed formations not provided for by law (parts 1, 2 of article 111, part 1 of article 258-3, part 2 of article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Each of the men was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
In court, the prosecutors proved that the accused voluntarily switched to the side of the enemy and joined the illegal armed formations of the “people’s militia” of the terrorist organizations “DNR” and “LNR”.
Men from Donetsk region were enrolled in military unit 08805, which is part of the 1st army corps of the Russian Federation.
One of them performed the duties of guarding the places of deployment of units, carried out filtering measures of the local population at checkpoints in the Makiivka district. Another, according to the database of the “Peacemaker” website, was the commander of a mortar unit.
The resident of Luhansk region was enlisted as a rifleman of the motorized rifle battalion.
The man underwent military training and acquired skills in the use of small arms, mastered the tactics of fighting, assault, attack and retreat.
The accused performed tasks related to the conduct of hostilities and ensured the security of the locations of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the terrorist organization “LNR” in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
A special pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings was carried out by the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.
