Following a public prosecution by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a citizen of Ukraine was found guilty of high treason, participation in a terrorist organization and activities of armed groups not provided for by law (Article 111(2), Article 258-3(1), Article 260(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The prosecutor proved in court that the resident of Donetsk region voluntarily went over to the enemy in May 2023. He joined the illegal armed formation “People’s Militia” of the so-called “DNR” terrorist organization.
The man underwent military training and gained skills in combat, assault, advance, retreat and use of small arms. He was enlisted in the 4th company of the 267th rifle battalion as a machine gunner.
The convict performed the duties of a guard service to protect the territory. He fought in the settlements of Donetsk region, where he was detained by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Lviv region.
