Attempted Murder in Lviv: Marital Conflict Ends in Shooting
In Lviv, police detained a suspect for attempted murder of his wife. During heavy drinking, a conflict arose between the couple, during which the man shot the woman in the head. The suspect faces a penalty of seven to fifteen years imprisonment. The injured woman is in the hospital.
Details of the Incident
A report about a seriously injured woman in one of the apartments on Paporotna Street in Lviv was received by the police on February 16 at around 13:00. Patrol officers, criminal police detectives, investigators, and other officers from Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 immediately arrived at the scene.
Law enforcement determined that on that day, the couple was visiting an acquaintance. During drinking, a conflict emerged between the 42-year-old husband and his 47-year-old wife, during which he shot her in the head with a traumatic pistol. The injured woman was hospitalized in critical condition and is now under medical supervision.
Legal Consequences
The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, charged the suspect with a crime under Part 2 Article 15 Part 1 Article 115 (Attempted Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment from seven to fifteen years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
