Maksym Kozytskyi: Lviv region sends more than a thousand tons of humanitarian aid to other regions every day

Today, the Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi met with the Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine Manal Fouani. The meeting discussed increasing cooperation with international organizations, such as UNDP, to speed up the reconstruction and development of Ukraine’s economy during the war.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of the Development Program spoke about the organization’s work plans in the region.

“Our work consists of three main aspects. First, we must be sure that the functions and services of the state are provided and provided even in such a difficult period. That is why we work closely with the Ukrainian government and ministries. Secondly, we try to support the business that suffered during the war. The last aspect of our work is access to justice and human rights in wartime. In the region, we plan to help provide shelters for internally displaced persons and contribute to the development of the region both now and in the future. We want to continue investing in Ukraine and its local business so that the economy can continue to function fully, “said Manal Fouani.

The head of Lviv region Maksym Kozytskyi spoke about the needs and problems of the region, which require the help of international organizations.

“The basic needs of Lviv region can be divided into two groups: financing and basic necessities. First of all, we need to provide hot food and shelter for the 450,000 internally displaced persons currently in the region. Also among our priorities is assistance to the eastern regions affected by the war. Every day Lviv region sends more than a thousand tons of humanitarian goods to all parts of Ukraine. That is why we constantly need to replenish our reserves, ”explained the head of the Lviv OVA.

Also, the director of the Department of Economic Policy Stepan Kuybida spoke about the support program for companies that were forced to relocate their facilities to the west of Ukraine due to the war.

“We have already relocated almost four dozen companies from the east and center of Ukraine and thus saved more than half a thousand jobs. More than a hundred companies want to relocate their production facilities to our region. A large number of enterprises in the Lviv region are export-oriented, but for relocated enterprises the export procedure is more difficult, as it is necessary to re-certify and adjust the process of delivery to the consumer. We are actively working to ensure that such companies earn and keep jobs as soon as possible, ” said Stepan Kuybida.

For his part, Maksym Kozytskyi added that the Lviv region has a regional financial program to support the economy. Within it, relocated enterprises are paid UAH 100,000 in compensation for relocation, UAH 100,000 is additionally provided for the creation of 20 new jobs within the region, and UAH 500,000 is paid to entrepreneurs to upgrade the production facilities and equipment of each enterprise. The head of the region invited UNDP to join the financial support of such enterprises to reduce the burden on the regional budget.
