In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of September 13, 2022, tenants of state property in airports and ports were exempted from rent. Earlier, Deputy Mayor – business ombudsman of Lviv City Council Serhiy Kiral addressed the Prime Minister of Ukraine with such a proposal.
The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers provides for the application of a zero rental rate for port operators until the moment when commercial shipping is fully restored or until the security level in seaports is established lower than level 3. And for tenants of property in state-owned airports – until the moment when aviation activities of airports are restored.
As Serhiy Kiral noted, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, entrepreneurs who have establishments in state-owned airports do not have access to leased space and do not carry out economic activities. Under martial law, they paid rent with a 50% discount. However, taking into account the suspension of operations and the high rental rates at the airport, the fee for them remained quite significant. Entrepreneurs turned to the authorities of Lviv for help.
“Entrepreneurs appealed to the mayor and me in particular with a request for help: they have leased space at the state airport “Lviv”, to which they have not had access since February and cannot carry out business activities. The State Property Fund is responsible for renting space, and the rental rate is determined by a government decision. The state did not cancel the rent, but only established a 50% discount by a Cabinet resolution. Even half the salary – when you don’t work and don’t earn – it’s a lot. It should be added that during the war, our entrepreneurs actively volunteer and financially support the military and people who suffered. Addressed the relevant letter to the Prime Minister. And we have a result – from September 13, Lviv businesses may not pay rent, and spend the saved funds on job preservation, operational activities of their other enterprises and, of course, support for the Armed Forces. We will win together!”, Serhiy Kiral noted.
