Today, on 23 July, at 09:47, rescuers received a report that a gas burner had exploded in one of the apartments on the fifth floor of a fourteen-storey residential building in Lviv on Naukova Street.
Lviv fire and rescue units were sent to the scene.
As it turned out at the scene, the owner decided to cook food on a tourist gas burner, which exploded. As a result, the 75-year-old woman suffered burns to her face and hands. Rescuers provided first aid to the victim. The woman refused to be hospitalised.
Rescuers of Lviv region once again warn to follow the recommendations when using tourist burners and gas cylinders for them. The following factors can cause a gas cylinder or burner to explode:
– Use near flammable objects.
– Storing a cylinder on a balcony: it can explode due to a sharp temperature drop.
– Leakage of the cylinder or its incorrect connection to the burner.
– Prolonged use of the burner and too large dishes. The optimal size of the cookware for the burner is for one serving.
– Uncertified burners and cylinders of poor quality.
A gas camping burner should only be used outdoors. We do not recommend using it at home!
