The number of people getting stuck in lifts is growing: Lviv City Council calls for consideration of power outage schedules
With the introduction of hourly power outage schedules in Lviv, the number of residents getting stuck in lifts has increased. Thus, according to Lvivsvitlo, the company received 259 complaints about stuck elevators over the past week.
The mayor’s office urges residents to take into account power outage schedules and not to use the lift before a possible power outage and during air raid alerts, and not to allow children to use lifts on their own at this time, the Lviv City Council press service said.
The mayor’s office emphasises that in the event of a power outage, the lift may stop between floors, and the lack of ventilation or lighting can cause panic. And during an “air raid” there is a risk of getting stuck due to a blast wave or damage to the networks.
“We urge residents not to use lifts during the air raid and power outages, and not to allow children to do so, as it takes more than an hour to free a person stuck in a lift in such conditions. Take care of your safety and the safety of your children,” the Department of Housing and Infrastructure of the Lviv City Council urges.
If you get stuck, stay calm, press the emergency call button and wait for help.
