Lviv is continuing to deal with the aftermath of the bad weather that hit the city on 22 June. In particular, electric transport has been restored.
Utilities are also covering damaged roofs, cutting and removing fallen trees and branches. No people were injured during the storm. Utilities will continue to operate on a standby basis until all the consequences of the weather are eliminated. Additional funds will be allocated from the city budget for all necessary works. The decision was approved today, 22 June, at an extraordinary meeting of the city’s industrial safety and emergency response committee.
Thus, as of 16.00, according to the heads of district administrations and heads of departments of the city council, about 100 trees have fallen on the streets and parks of the community. They are being promptly cut and removed. At the same time, the survey of the fallen trees continues.
A chimney in a residential building at 13 Valova Street collapsed as a result of the weather and damaged the ceiling in one of the apartments. The city will help to carry out restoration work. The preliminary cost is UAH 270 thousand.
Partial damage to 7 roofs was recorded – in 4 residential buildings in Shevchenkivskyi district, in the library building in Hriada, in the theatre building on Hnatyuk Street and in the Skrynya shopping centre on Horodotska Street. The damage has been repaired in some of the buildings.
One case of road flooding was reported on Zelena Street near the McDonald’s restaurant. The roadway sank in this location. At the same time, emergency crews are working to clean out rainwater inlets in the city.
In Lviv, 3 street lighting poles fell down and three street lighting network breaks were recorded.
Power lines are also damaged. As a result, there may be power outages. Lvivoblenergo has engaged additional emergency crews to repair the damage.
The falling branches also caused minor breaks in the overhead line, which temporarily stopped trams #6 and #7 from running. Trolleybuses No. 22, No. 23 and No. 30 were suspended due to falling trees on St. George’s Square. As of 16:30, the trolleybuses resumed running. All electric transport is now running as usual.
“I am grateful that everyone has promptly started to eliminate the consequences of the storm. It is important that all the fallen trees are removed as soon as possible, so that all passages are open. I ask all services to respond as quickly as possible to all requests received by the city’s hotline,” said Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
By the way, as of 16:00, the city’s hotline has received 163 calls about the bad weather.
