Protection of Green Spaces in Lviv
The Lviv City Council has updated the list of especially valuable trees, including ash trees, cherry trees, ginkgo trees, and oaks that grow in various corners of the city. This decision was approved during an executive committee meeting, emphasizing the importance of preserving green spaces in the community.
Selection Process and Importance of Trees
According to the information from the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources, Lviv forms a list of trees each year that may receive the status of especially valuable. This work is carried out by Lviv gardeners, who submit proposals for consideration to the ecological department for further inspection. A commission, consisting of representatives from scientific institutions, studies the condition of the trees and determines their special value.
New Additions to the List
This year, the list of especially valuable trees has been supplemented with representatives from various districts of Lviv, including common ash trees, cherry trees, exotic ginkgo trees, as well as various types of oaks. These trees have ecological, aesthetic, and educational significance for the urban community.
