The community of Lviv continues to expand its green spaces, reaffirming its commitment to preserving the natural environment for residents. Currently, the total area of green zones in the city has reached nearly 1200 hectares, including 41 parks and 135 squares, as noted by Lyubomyr Zubach, the Deputy Mayor for Urban Development.
The latest significant addition to the green areas includes a large park with a lake at the intersection of Lypynskyi and Lincoln streets, covering an area of 3.6 hectares and recently transferred to community use. Furthermore, in 2024, the city council has completed land management for ten new squares on nearly 7 hectares of municipal land, located on Voloshyna, Horodotska, near the circus, Heroes of UPA, Kleparivska, Trakt Hlynianivskyi streets, and others.
Further increase in the number of green zones is among the goals of the city council. Currently, work has begun on developing legal documents for another 11 plots of land, which will soon become new squares or parks, supporting the balance of natural landscapes in the urban environment of Lviv.
