Social media is once again spreading publications about the salaries of city council officials, including the mayor of Drohobych, Taras Kuchma.
As the city council reminded, salaries for local government officials are approved by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. It is the government that approves the amount of salaries – salaries, additional payments and allowances for heads and officials of local councils.
The percentage of monthly bonuses is determined by the local self-government body’s internal regulations. As for bonuses for city mayors, the decision on the amount of the bonus is made and approved by the city council session.
In Drohobych, the amount of the bonus for the mayor was approved by the decision of the Drohobych City Council session No. 14 of 10 December 2020 and amounted to 150%.
After the Cabinet of Ministers increased the salaries of local government officials, the mayor of Drohobych took the initiative to reduce the amount of monthly bonuses. As a result, by the decision of the session of 6 June 2024, the bonus percentage was reduced from 150 to 100%. Similarly, the bonuses for the entire management team and all local government officials were reduced.
