On Monday, three defenders will be buried in Lviv

On Monday, 12 May, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Taras Skobal, Vasyl Dovbush and Pavlo Stasyshyn, who died in action defending Ukraine from Russian invaders.

The funeral service for the soldiers Taras Skobal and Vasyl Dovbush will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul in Lviv. Afterwards, at approximately 11:30 a.m., there will be a citywide farewell ceremony on Rynok Square. Both defenders will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery, on the field of honour for the newest Heroes.

The funeral service for Pavlo Stasyshyn will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Nicholas in the village of Pidbirtsi. The soldier will be buried at the cemetery in Pidbirtsi.

Biographical information about the defenders

He studied at the Mariyka Pidhiryanka Lyceum No. 74 of the Lviv City Council (former Lviv Secondary School No. 74). Subsequently, he continued his studies at the Lviv State University of Life Safety, specialising in Fire Safety Inspector.

He worked as a logistician at Fozzy Group.

According to his family, Taras Skobalo “loved and cared for his daughter, honoured his parents, sister and brother”. He wrote poetry and took care of animals. He was fond of football.

During the anti-terrorist operation in the east of the country, he was actively involved in volunteering.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invasion of the Russian occupiers. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Kramatorsk direction in the ranks of the 5th separate assault brigade of the Kyiv Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Hero is survived by his mother, sister, brother, daughter and fiancée.

In 1991, he entered secondary school No. 63 in Lviv. Lviv. In August 2005, he entered the Technical Specialist College of Lviv Polytechnic National University. In 2009-2014, he studied at the Ukrainian Academy of Printing, specialising in Electronic Multimedia Publishing Technologies.

In 2015-2019, he worked as an editing director at Lux shopping mall, then at the West Ukraine Motors motorcycle workshop, and most recently as a tester at GlobalLogic IT company.

Vasyl Dovbush was an ardent supporter and active participant of Ukrainian rallying, the “soul” of the Lviv rally community. He was distinguished by his sincerity and love of life, always initiating new projects and being the “engine” of the entire company. He was fond of motorcycles, loved travelling on his Harley-Davidson and was a mountain climber. He liked to spend his free time walking with his pet Nash, a golden retriever he had long dreamed of.

After the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he volunteered to defend the state from the Russian invaders and joined the ranks of the military unit A5018 of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Hero is survived by his parents, sister and her family, grandmother, nephew, godparents and godchildren.

He studied at the Pidbirtsi Lyceum of the Lviv City Council (formerly the Pidbirtsi Secondary School). Later, he received a degree in car repair at the Higher Vocational School №29 in Lviv. Lviv.

He worked as a baker at Barkom Limited Liability Company and was also a manager of medical supplies at BaDM Limited Liability Company.

According to his family, Pavlo Stasyshyn “was always ready to help others and had many friends”. He loved music and wrote musical compositions. He was also fond of fishing.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invasion of the Russian occupiers. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Avdiivka area in the ranks of the 47th separate mechanised brigade “Magura” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Hero is survived by his mother, father, brother and grandfather.
