Dmytro Ryvak, an explosives technician from Lviv Oblast, was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III degree

The relevant decree was signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the head of the Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytsky presented the state award to the Hero family.

“For his personal courage and self-sacrifice, shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, conscientious and impeccable service to the Ukrainian people, Dmytro Ryvak was awarded the Order of Courage III degree (posthumously). The relevant Decree was signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

The state award to the family of the fallen soldier, his wife and son, was presented today by the head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytskyi, and the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, Oleksandr Shlyakhovskyi.

“Thanks to your husband and father, it was possible to save a large number of lives. Sincere condolences to you and a low bow to the Hero. The victory will be ours,” said the head of the region.

Dmytro Ryvak is a senior police lieutenant, senior inspector for special assignments of the special explosive equipment sector of the Department of Explosive Service of the National Police of Ukraine.

He lived in the village of Pidbirtsi near Lviv. He studied at the Pidbirtsiv Lyceum. Graduated from Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after Stepan Zenonovich Gzhitskyi. In peacetime, he was a private entrepreneur.

Since 2014, he performed combat missions in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation as part of the “St. Mary” volunteer battalion. From 2017 to 2019, he held the position of explosives inspector of the explosives department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Luhansk region. Subsequently, he worked in the Department of International Police Cooperation and the Department of the Explosive Service of the National Police of Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Dmytro Ryvak has been searching for and disarming explosive objects as a member of the consolidated squad of the explosives service.

Died on October 4, 2022 while performing a task during the deoccupation of Ukrainian territories. He was 42 years old. The Hero was buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.
