Icy is expected on the roads in Lviv and the region on December 1 and 2. The Lviv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology warns about this.
We urge drivers to follow safety rules and be as attentive and careful as possible on the roads. In addition, the risk of injury for pedestrians is also increasing, therefore, in order to protect their health, citizens are asked to pay attention to the rules of behavior in case of worsening weather conditions.
So, we remind you how to behave during an ice storm:
Safety rules for drivers
Check the technical condition of the car and change summer tires to winter tires.
Control the distance between vehicles.
When approaching pedestrian crossings and locations of children’s institutions, reduce speed to a minimum.
If you are stopped on the road, turn on the hazard warning lights.
Safety rules for pedestrians
If you lose your balance on ice, try to squat quickly: this is the most realistic chance to stay on your feet.
Walk slowly and with small steps, step on the entire sole.
Before crossing the road, make sure that the car is at a great distance from you, because the braking distance on a slippery road increases several times.
Be careful on the sidewalk as well – the driver may not react in time, the car may skid.
