On January 8, at 21:13, the Rescue Service “101” received a report about a fire in the village of Verbitsa on the street 14 Sahaidachnoy St., Stryi district in a brick residential building, measuring 12×7 m. The fire departments of Zhydachiv and Khodoriv, as well as the operational team of the Stryi district administration, were sent to the scene of the incident.
As it was found out at the scene, the source of the fire was located near the chimney. By the time the fire and rescue units arrived, the fire had spread quickly. There was a threat of fire spreading to nearby buildings. However, thanks to the actions of the rescuers, it was possible to prevent further spread of the fire. As a result of the fire, the fire destroyed the covering on an area of 12 square meters. He also damaged the ceiling on an area of 6 square meters and household items on an area of 15 square meters.
Also, on January 9 at 01:25, the dispatch center received a report about a fire in the village of Stones of the Stryi district in a brick residential building. The fire and rescue units of Zhydachiv and Khodoriv, as well as the operative group of the Stryi district administration, went to the scene of the incident. As it turned out, the ignition started in one of the rooms of the house, where there was a metal furnace for heating, which was melted, but left unattended.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire quickly spread through the wooden structures of the building. There was a threat of the fire spreading to a nearby building. Firefighters managed to localize the fire and eliminate it. The fire destroyed the covering on the area of 20 square meters, the ceiling on the area of 20 square meters, three wooden windows, wooden doors, household items on the area of 20 square meters. He also damaged walls on an area of 50 square meters and household items on an area of 10 square meters.
There were no casualties or injuries as a result of these fires.
The head office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region urges citizens to be careful when heating their homes.

To save your own life and the lives of people close to you, remember:
– do not allow overheating;
– near each stove or fireplace, in front of the firebox, on the combustible floor, a metal sheet with a size of at least 0.5×0.7 m should be nailed;
– do not leave burning stoves or fireplaces unattended;
– do not leave firewood and other combustible objects or materials directly in front of the firebox;
– make sure that there are no cracks in the walls of furnaces and chimneys;
– chimneys and stoves should be cleaned of soot before the start and throughout the heating season.
“Remember – only the implementation of elementary rules of firefighting and personal safety will be able to save your life and property from fire,” the rescuers emphasized.
