The first since the start of the full-scale war. A family-type home was opened in Rudno. The twelfth in the Lvivska AH and the first to be opened after 2022.
The new owners of the family-type home are two young foster parents and their seven children, aged 7 to 15. Maksym’s father said that his parents had also set up a family-type home in the past and now 10 orphans are growing up there. Now he and his foster children are settling in and exploring their new home.
It’s a lot of work, because both the house and the yard around it are large and spacious, with room for a swing and a trampoline. The house is located in the centre of the village – not far from the kindergarten, lyceum and all civilian infrastructure,” says the office of the Lvivska Hromada in Rudno.
The total area of the house is 242 sq. m. There are four bedrooms, a playroom, a lounge, two bathrooms, a spacious kitchen and a dining and living room, as well as a basement. Everything is for the safe and comfortable living of children and their parents and carers.
The New Horizons for Children Ukraine charitable foundation (USA) provided the family with the premises free of charge. It also provided new furniture, appliances and landscaping.
The decision to create a new family-type orphanage was made at a meeting of the executive committee of the Lviv City Council on 30 May.
“There is nothing more important and valuable than a child who has a home where they are waited for, loved and cared for. We are doing everything we can to make sure that there are as many such homes as possible,” says the Lviv City Council.
