The Philharmonic Hall will host the All-Ukrainian Composer Competition named after Myroslav Skoryk for the second time

The Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra announced the holding of the II All-Ukrainian Composer Competition named after Myroslav Skoryk. The deadline for submission of tender materials is August 1, 2023. The prize pool is UAH 500,000.

The purpose of the competition is to support talented young Ukrainian composers who work in the symphonic genre of modern classical music, and to develop the interest of a wide audience in modern classical music. An important point in the value system of the outstanding composer competition is the popularization and introduction of works by young Ukrainian composers into the concert programs of Ukrainian symphony orchestras.

Composers-citizens of Ukraine who will be no more than 40 years old in 2023 can participate in the competition. The competition is anonymous and participation is free.

For the competition, authors must submit a piece for a symphony orchestra with the participation of a solo instrument (from the list: violin, viola, cello or double bass) without the use of electronics or multimedia. It must be written for a competition (completed in 2023) and not publicly performed before submission to the competition.

The competition is held by an international jury:

· Yuriy Lanyuk, chairman of the jury, composer (Ukraine);

· Bohdana Frolyak, composer (Ukraine);

Ivan Nebesny, composer (Ukraine);

· Carmella Tsepkolenko, composer (Ukraine);

· Nazarii Stets, performer (Ukraine);

Jerzy Kornowicz, composer (Poland);

· Vincent Kozlowski, conductor, composer (Poland).

The organizing committee of the competition:

– Volodymyr Syvohip, general director of the Lviv National Philharmonic;

– Bohdan Segin, executive director of the competition;

– Dzvenislava Saf’yan, secretary of the competition.

The winners of the three prizes and the winner of the special prize from Oana and Simon Camartin will be announced in early September.

Also, on October 1, 2023, during the 29th International Festival of Contemporary Music “Contrasts”, three award-winning works will be performed (Lviv National Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra, conductor – Vincent Kozlovskyi).
