For reference:

The January Uprising was an uprising of 1863-1864 in the territories of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Along with the Poles, Lithuanians, Belarusians and Ukrainians took part in the uprising. The cause of the uprising was the desire of the leading part of the Polish-Lithuanian society to gain national independence and restore statehood.

The uprising ended with the Russian imperial government brutally dealing with the participants of the uprising: hundreds of participants were executed, thousands were sent to Siberia or sent to the army, and their property was confiscated.
