An exhibition of Ukrainian art opened in Sydney – the works were brought from Lviv

For the first time in 33 years, an exhibition of Ukrainian art has opened in Sydney. These are the works brought to Australia from Lviv

For almost 1.5 years, We and the World, the Kozitsky Charitable Foundation, has been negotiating with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, Vasyl Myroshnychenko, and the event has taken place. This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Australia

The exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian art was opened in the heart of Sydney – at the Billich Art Gallery, whose owner has never exhibited art other than his own.

The exhibition on the very sensitive topic of “The Emigrant and His Broken Roads” featured 18 artists. Most of the works were sold during the event. The proceeds will go to the art therapy center at the Lviv Officers’ House.
“I am grateful to Mr. Vasyl Myroshnychenko for this wonderful opportunity to introduce contemporary Ukrainian art to Australians. This is another important opportunity to remind us of the identity and creative potential of a people in the center of Europe, who, due to the attack of the Russian occupiers, are now fighting for their future.

I am grateful to Charles Bilic, an Australian Croatian, surrealist artist and a man who cares about the fate of Ukraine. It is a great honor that you allowed us to exhibit these works in your gallery.

Since March 2022, the Foundation has held 34 exhibitions of contemporary Ukrainian art in 13 countries. It is important to continue to speak loudly about Ukraine on all possible international platforms. We will win,” said Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv region.
