Petro Radkovets, a local expert, tour guide, popularizer of Lviv city history and culture, has passed away.

It became known that yesterday, February 4, the local historian, tour guide, popularizer of Lviv city history and culture Petro Radkovets passed away. The Lviv City Council expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased.

“Petro Radkovets, a well-known Lviv guide and local historian, died suddenly. A piece of Lviv, a piece of our history, went with him. I don’t know who could retell it better than Peter. In this photo, he is conducting a tour for military personnel undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in Lviv. Bright Memory!”, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi wrote on his Facebook page.

Petro Radkovets is the author of hundreds of local history publications, participant and co-author of dozens of television projects, documentaries and stories devoted to Lviv on regional and national TV channels. Born in Lviv on April 27, 1964. Together with his brother Ivan, he became the author of a collection of fairy tales for children (“Secrets of Lviv Lions”, Lviv, 2015). The Radkovtsi brothers are the developers of numerous author’s tourist routes in Lviv and western Ukraine, co-authors of the local history explorations “Mysteries of the City of the Lion”.

A graduate of the Lviv Polygraphic Institute (modern Ukrainian Academy of Printing), a member of the “Lev Society” (historical section). In different years, he worked at the Lviv Scientific Library named after V. Stefanyk, the “Center of Europe” publishing house.

Petro Radkovets was one of the most famous Lviv and Ukrainian guides. His author’s tours have delighted the guests of our city for the past 20 years. He had a Lviv tour guide license number 1, which he officially received from the Lviv City Council. One of the last projects with his participation was the “City Heals” project – free walks in Lviv for defenders and military veterans undergoing rehabilitation.

Petro Radkovets died suddenly in Lviv on February 4, 2023.
