“During the war, many people were left homeless. The church in Godovytsia lost its roof back in the 1970s, but despite everything, it did not lose its spirit and centuries-old history. Prominent Ukrainian artists have invested pieces of their hearts so that every visitor to the exhibition can see through the eyes of artists what this architectural monument looks like. Lviv OVA has supported and will continue to support the project “Inspired by Pinzel in Godovytsia”. – Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv OVA, emphasized.

As the founder of the project, Ivona Loban, noted, the purpose of the exhibition is to draw public attention to the unique architectural monument – the Church of All Saints in the village of Godovytsy, Lviv region, which needs conservation and restoration.

“Nearly a thousand people have supported the project over the years. Together, we created dozens of events that were widely covered in the media. Thousands of incredible photos were created during this time to draw attention to this unique temple. In this project, we want to share with you how much we have achieved, and this will give us the strength to move forward,” said Ivona Loban.

Anyone interested will be able to familiarize themselves with the collection of works presented at the exhibition until March 26.

For reference:

The plastic decoration of the church of the 18th century was performed by Johann Georgy Pinzel, a master of baroque sculpture, whose work is being updated by the NGO “Art Studio of Yvonne Loban”. In 1974, the church was damaged by fire. The roof and ceiling of the building suffered the greatest destruction, as a result of which most of the original frescoes by O. Rolinskyi were lost forever. Since then, the monument has been in a state of disrepair. The building is without a roof. Urgent restoration and conservation measures are urgently needed. The church of All Saints was last restored in 1900. Since 2017, the public organization “Art Studio of Yvonne Loban” has been uniting people in various artistic actions aimed at saving this unique architectural gem.
