The Lviv region will soon become a member of the Assembly of European Regions – AER. The relevant application was officially submitted today, April 28, – said the head of the Lviv Regional Council Iryna Hrymak.
The proposal to join the Association was made by the President of the Assembly Magnus Berntson and the Secretary General Christian Spara during a meeting of the VII European Congress of Local Governments in Poland.
“Membership in the assembly opens new opportunities for our region at the European and international level. This includes establishing partnerships with more than 100 regions of Europe, participating in summits, writing and implementing joint projects, accessing EU funding, supporting youth initiatives and sharing experiences. Membership in the Assembly will be free for Ukrainian regions, “the head of the Lviv regional council explained.
For reference: The Assembly of European Regions (AER) was founded in 1985 and is the largest independent network of regions in Europe. The assembly consists of 140 missions. During 2020-2021, the SES organized 20 meetings with more than 2,000 participants. With the help of the Assembly, 180 regional initiatives received financial support from the European Union.
