Resident of Lviv region is exposed for USD 20,000 for smuggling a man of military age across the border
Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 60-year-old resident of Truskavets was served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with organising the illegal trafficking of a person across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect organised an illegal scheme to make a profit from the illegal trafficking of a person of military age abroad.
The man offered two options for crossing the border – outside the established checkpoints or as a vehicle driver. “The ‘client’ agreed to the latter.
The price of this service was USD 20,000.
The suspect was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on receiving the agreed amount of money.
The issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided.
Investigative actions are ongoing, all involved persons are being identified.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, and operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
