It was established that a conflict arose between the men while drinking alcohol. The suspect faces imprisonment for up to eight years for his crime.
The injured man is in intensive care.
On 23 November, around 20.00, the police received a report that a man had been injured in a house in a village in Zolochiv district. Doctors diagnosed him with, among other things, a “penetrating stab wound to the chest”.
Criminal police operatives, investigators and officers of other units of the Zolochiv District Police Department No. 2 immediately arrived at the scene.
According to the police, that evening, a conflict arose between the 64-year-old owner of the apartment and his guest, a 38-year-old resident of Luhansk region, while drinking alcohol, during which the elder stabbed the younger man in the face and chest, causing serious bodily injuries. The victim was hospitalised in intensive care.
The offender was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural control of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, served him a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
