Prosecutors of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office have sent an indictment against a local family doctor to court. He is charged with complicity in the illegal sale of potent medicines, committed repeatedly, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, as well as entering false information into official documents (Part 5 of Article 27 – Part 1, 3 of Article 321, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that from January 2023 to March this year, the accused, being an official, made and handed over to a third party medical prescriptions for the purchase of a potent drug.
It was established that the family doctor wrote prescriptions for sedatives using existing patient data. However, these persons did not receive either these prescriptions or the medicines according to them. It is worth noting that the medicines prescribed by the employee have a tranquilising and sedative effect. Therefore, they are in demand among drug addicts as an enhancer for the effects of narcotic substances.
It is documented that the doctor illegally issued about 70 prescriptions in total. Based on these prescriptions, a third party illegally purchased a potent medicinal product from a chain of Lviv pharmacies.
Other persons involved in the illegal activity are currently being identified.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 3 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
