Fortunately, no one was injured in the explosion. The defendant, who acted out of hooliganism, faces up to seven years’ imprisonment for his crime.
As established by officers of Police Department No. 1 of the Chervonohrad District Police Department, on 16 July at around 13.15, an explosion occurred on the territory of a household in a village in Chervonohrad District, damaging the fence. According to the owner of the property, the offender threw a grenade and fled the scene by car.
The law enforcement identified the offender, a 50-year-old resident of Lviv, found his whereabouts and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. It was also established that the F-1 grenade exploded, which the detainee threw into the yard for hooliganism.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under the procedural supervision of the Chervonohrad District Prosecutor’s Office under Part 4 of Article 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictment has been sent to court.
The article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
