Two Pedestrians Injured in Road Accidents in Lviv and Near Khodorkivtsi: Police Investigate

On January 3, two traffic accidents involving pedestrians occurred in Lviv and near the village of Khodorkivtsi.

The first incident happened around 8:20 a.m. on Lysenetska Street in Lviv. A 19-year-old resident of Novoyavorivsk, driving a Skoda Superb, hit a 45-year-old woman from Lviv who was crossing the street at a pedestrian crossing. The woman sustained injuries and was hospitalized.

The second accident took place the same day at 10:30 p.m. on the “Lviv-Ivano-Frankivsk-Mukachevo” highway, near the village of Khodorkivtsi. A 63-year-old Lviv resident driving an Opel struck a 46-year-old local man walking on the roadway. The victim was also hospitalized with injuries.

Both incidents are being investigated under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article stipulates penalties of up to three years of restricted freedom and a three-year ban on driving.

The Lviv police emphasize the importance of adhering to traffic rules. Drivers are advised to avoid speeding, especially in poor weather or low visibility conditions, and to stay focused on the road. Pedestrians are urged to cross roads only in designated areas and follow safety protocols strictly.

Investigations into the circumstances of both accidents are ongoing.
