
In Lviv, a Suspect Arrested for Abusing Influence on Military Service
In Lviv, law enforcement officers detained a suspect accused of abusing influence. It has been established that a 41-year-old Lviv resident received $11,500 from a serviceman for influencing a decision by an official regarding the place of his military service.
Details of the Detention
The perpetrator was uncovered by investigators from the Department for the Investigation of Particularly Serious Crimes of the Investigative Department of the Lviv Police, with operational support from the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region.
On March 5, law enforcement officers detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after he received the entire sum of undue benefit from the \”client\”. Part of the money was allegedly to be kept by the suspect, while another portion was to be given to the person authorized to decide on the service location for the serviceman.
Legal Consequences
The suspect has been notified of charges of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 369-2 (Abuse of Influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article prescribes a punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation continues, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
