Border guards of the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment, using a sniffer dog, found marijuana on a Ukrainian travelling to Poland.
A 53-year-old resident of Lviv was travelling by train “Kyiv-Peremyshl”. During the control procedures, the sniffer dog “Ruth”, trained to search for narcotic substances, was triggered on the citizen’s personal belongings.
As a result, the border and customs inspection group found a plastic bag of marijuana weighing 8.4 grams. According to the man, the found items were his property, which he had forgotten about.
At the Uhryniv checkpoint, a border guard sniffer dog also detected marijuana. Three grams of the drug were found in the armrest of an Audi that was entering Ukraine.
The border guards informed the relevant law enforcement agencies. Responsibility for these offences is provided for in Article 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or transfer of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues without the purpose of sale”.
In total, since the beginning of the year, border guard sniffer dogs have helped to detect almost 13 kg of drugs in the Lviv region.
