Law enforcement officers remind that a drunk driver poses a potential threat to all road users. Even the smallest doses of alcohol affect the human body: coordination of movements, speed of reaction, vision are impaired.
This necessarily affects driving – the driver cannot adequately assess the road situation, react to its changes in time, which leads to road accidents, often with injuries and deaths. In no case should you get behind the wheel if you are intoxicated. We also appeal to passengers – never get into a car if you suspect that it is being driven by an intoxicated driver!
The traffic accident happened on March 23, around 1:30 a.m., on Horodyshche Street in Truskavets.
As previously determined by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Volkswagen Passat, a 30-year-old resident of the Kyiv region, lost control and drove into a tree.
As a result of the accident, the passenger of the car, a 39-year-old resident of Dnipro, was injured and hospitalized.
It was established that the driver of the car was in a state of alcohol intoxication. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of police department No. 2 of the Drogobytsky district police department, under the procedural guidance of the Drogobytskyi district prosecutor’s office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 1 of article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport vehicles by persons driving vehicles in a state of intoxication) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
