For what he committed, he faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
The traffic accident happened on May 26 on Halytskyi Street in the city of Vinnyki.
As previously established by law enforcement officers, the driver of the Volkswagen Golf, a 37-year-old resident of Lviv, lost control – his vehicle drove into the oncoming traffic lane, where it collided with a BMW driven by a 41-year-old resident of Lviv.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the Golf received bodily injuries and was hospitalized. It was also established that he was driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 opened criminal proceedings under part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
An investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
