On September 6, around 4:00 p.m., the police received a report from a resident of one of the villages of the Lviv district that an unknown person had stolen a gadget from his Volkswagen car parked on Shevchenko Avenue in the city of Novy Rozil.
The investigative and operative group and employees of other services of the police activity department of the Stryi district police department and criminal police officers of the police department No. 2 of the Stryi district police department immediately went to the scene of the incident. As a result of the measures taken, operatives established that a 42-year-old local resident was involved in the theft, and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The law enforcement officers also discovered and seized physical evidence from him.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial unit of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Soon, the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
