До 15 років за гратами засуджено коригувальника ракетного удару по Яворівському полігону, внаслідок якого загинуло більше 60 людей

Following a public prosecution by the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court found the Ukrainian citizen guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all his personal property (part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Prosecutors proved in court that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the 73-year-old native of Lviv, a former employee of the USSR KGB, had been cooperating with Russian FSB agents. He collected information on the location of military facilities, weapons and critical infrastructure in the region.

The convict sent a map of the Yavoriv military training ground via the Telegram messenger. It shows the location of the military camps of the International Centre for Peacekeeping and Security. He also indicated the location of barracks and dormitories.

On 13 March 2022, the occupiers shelled these facilities, firing more than 30 missiles in total. More than 60 people died and more than 160 were injured.

In addition, the resident of Lviv passed other information to the enemy for the purpose of subversion against Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers detained the gunner in June 2022. He was awaiting sentencing in custody.

The court’s verdict comes into force after the expiry of the appeal period.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Lviv region.
