The information that appeared in the media about raising heat tariffs in Lviv is not true. As Oleksandr Odynets, director of Lvivteploenergo, explained, on the one hand, since the beginning of the war, the country has been under a moratorium on raising heat and hot water tariffs for households.
On the other hand, the announcement posted on Lvivteploenergo’s website refers to the establishment of a tariff for heat production for four boiler houses where heat pumps have been installed, but not for residents.
“There will be no increase in the tariff for heat and hot water for Lviv residents, as there is currently a moratorium on raising the tariff for households.
Instead, we have posted an announcement on our website about setting a tariff for heat production from alternative sources. What is the reason for this? Last year, we installed heat pumps at four of our boiler houses, so they will produce heat without using gas. Therefore, the cost of heat production from these facilities will be different. According to the current legislation, we have to calculate how much the heat produced at these boiler houses costs, i.e., to establish the tariff for heat at these facilities. And we did that. Accordingly, we posted an announcement about it on our website. These figures must then be approved,” explained Mr. Odynets.
He also noted that when they recalculate the general tariff for heat and hot water, which consists of the sum of all Lvivteploenergo’s expenses divided by the amount of heat produced, this will not actually affect anything. After all, the share of these alternative sources (4 heat pumps) in the company’s total heat production is less than 1%.
