Government Decision on Fuel Excise Distribution Causes Uneven Consequences in Lviv Region

The Ukrainian government has approved a decision on the distribution shares of excise tax from fuel trade for local communities for the first half of 2025. According to Ivan Sobko, Deputy Chairman of the Regional State Administration, 13.44% of this tax goes to local budgets from the total amount of fuel sold and imported across the country, while the remaining funds stay under state control.

Throughout Lviv region, the distribution remains almost unchanged compared to the previous year. However, changes in allocations across different communities are extremely varied; some have shown an increase, while others, including the Novokalinivska and Velykolyubinska communities, have significantly decreased their shares. Possible reasons include reduced fuel sales volumes or even the cessation of sales at certain gas stations.

Ivan Sobko emphasized the need for intensive monitoring of these changes and the implementation of appropriate measures to rectify the situation, in order to ensure adequate budget funding for local communities.
