1268 meters high: defenders of Ukraine climbed Mount Parashka

This is the highest peak of the Skolivski Beskydy National Nature Park.

Previously, war veterans visited the mountains of Pikuy and Klyuch. A special feature of the hikes is the opportunity to climb the peaks for veterans who, after being injured, find it difficult to cover the distance on their own.

This time, Volodymyr Golovkov from the Mykolaiv region, who lost his lower limb after being wounded in Klishchiivka, moved part of the way with the help of a Juliet chair. The man served in the 5th separate assault brigade, and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Halychyna center.

In total, more than 10 defenders climbed to the top. Among them, Oleksiy Fedorenko comes from the Zhytomyr region. The man did not wait for a summons, but went to the Military Commissariat on his own. He served in the 77th Airborne Assault Brigade. He was wounded this year in March near Bakhmut. He was left without an upper limb, had a damaged spine and could not move on his own. Now he climbed the mountain without outside help, although a month ago he was operated on for re-amputation and removal of debris.

Defender Oleksandr Bertash from the Rivne region served in the 95th Assault Brigade. After being wounded in Kreminnaya, he was left without an upper limb. Previously, he climbed the mountains only with the help of a lift, this time he went on foot. He says that it is much more interesting. Although it is difficult to climb, the scenery around relieves both physical and psychological fatigue.

“This is the third ascent organized within the framework of the concept of support for defenders of Ukraine, which was developed in Lviv OVA. After three ascents, we were convinced that such trips are very necessary because they contribute to emotional recovery and add vitality to our defenders. We will definitely continue our work in this direction next year. We plan to add other types of active recreation to the event plan,” said Taras Lozynskyi, head of the Tourism and Resorts Department of Lviv Regional Government.

The structural unit responsible for tourism in the region expresses its gratitude to the partners of the event, in particular for the lunch and support of the “Skolivski Beskydy” NPP, the Mountain Operational Rescue Service, volunteers from the NGOs “Veterans go” and “On3Wheels”, as well as “Spodaryk travel restaurant”.
