The third digital educational center for children was opened in the Lviv Region

The goal of the digital learning center is safe access to distance learning of the Ministry of Education and Culture for children aged 6 to 17, as well as access to interactive non-formal education.

Today, April 5, a digital educational center was opened in Lviv. This is the third digital educational center for children in the Lviv region. The institution was placed on the basis of the Lviv Higher Vocational School of Computer Technologies and Construction. The center was founded by the international humanitarian organization “Save the Children” in cooperation with the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

The new digital learning center is a modern space equipped with a dozen laptops, four dozen tablets and a projector for viewing materials on a wide screen. In addition, the center has tools for improving the psycho-emotional state. The centers are intended for children from the local community, as well as for internally displaced children. In addition to access to MES training, visitors to the center receive interactive digital lessons, in particular in the areas of media literacy, Internet safety, as well as virtual tours of Ukraine.

Ivan Sobko, deputy head of Lviv OVA, attended the opening of the new educational center.

“You can invest a lot in buildings or other property, but the center of attention of a progressive European society should always be a person. We look to Europe and the developed world as a good role model. Intelligent and developed people always cooperate, so this place will become a place where children can develop comprehensively and find like-minded people. I am pleased that international partners are helping us in creating an educated society of Ukraine of the future,” Ivan Sobko said.

He added that the opening of this center is only part of the strategy of the Lviv OVA to develop a network of developmental and educational institutions for the youth of the Lviv region.

The director of the western region of the international organization “Save the children” Malmi Virasiri said that in cooperation with the Lviv OVA and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine this year it was possible to open 3 such digital educational centers and there are plans to double the existing network of centers in the Lviv region to six.

“The circumstances in which Ukraine lives now are particularly difficult for all its citizens, and especially for children. The consequences are dire, with many children becoming internally displaced, their schools destroyed, and the educational process disrupted. As a result, they cannot fully study at such an important time when they are being formed as individuals. The creation of such centers will make it possible to provide access to a high-quality and continuous educational process. Our centers have the necessary equipment for teaching children, in particular: laptops, tablets, projectors. Here, children can not only study, but also meet new friends and have a rich leisure time. On the basis of the centers, all children are given access not only to formal education, but also conduct interactive classes related to technologies or other online activities,” said the director.

“Save the Children” education consultant Halyna Vatamanyuk added that two facilitators and a supervisor work at each of the centers.

“We understand that it is difficult for some children to get unhindered access to education due to a lack of devices or facilities for learning. This center was created specifically for continuous access to education. Also here, children can receive informal interactive education outside of school hours. Our facilitators organize various activities for children to richly fill their free time,” explained Halyna Vatamaniuk.

In total, 3 digital learning centers have been operating in the Lviv region in test mode since last December: Lviv, st. Lincoln 2; Vinniki, str. Halytska 88A and Pidbuzh str. Zelena, 3.

During this time, half a thousand children were able to visit institutions that work every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
