During the academic year 2023/2024, schools and kindergartens of the Lviv community held many events, fairs and other charity initiatives, which raised almost UAH 52 million.
“Throughout the year, our schools and kindergartens have been helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine in one way or another, because it is thanks to our defenders that children have the opportunity to study. I am grateful to all the teachers, children and parents who have been happy to support all the initiatives. It is thanks to all of you that we managed to raise such a significant amount,” said Andriy Zakalyuk, Head of the Lviv City Department of Education, during the final broadcast.
Key charitable and volunteer initiatives carried out during the year:
– By 1 September, the Department of Education initiated the campaign “Instead of flowers on 1 September – a donation to the UNBROKEN KIDS children’s rehabilitation centre”, which raised UAH 10 million.
– Lion’s Revenge. Funds from the City Day fairs were used to buy 154 FPV drones (almost UAH 2 million).
– In December, on St. Nicholas Day, schoolchildren donated 2 tonnes of tangerines to children in need.
– In May, we held a project for “Unbreakable Mothers”, where children painted pictures and the Butterfly social atelier printed 500 scarves, all of which were donated to the needs of children.
Andriy Zakalyuk also invited everyone to attend the Kinder Fest festival for the youngest, which will take place this Sunday at 11 locations. This event is also a charity and aims to raise funds for drones for the military. Details about this event are available here.
