Historic doors have been restored on Rudanskoho Street in Lviv

Another restored door will decorate a building in the center of Lviv. This time the specialists restored the gate in the house on the street. Rudansky, 1. Doors received new life within the city co-financing program, coordinated by the Bureau of Heritage of the Department of Historic Environment Protection.

Specialists began work before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“These are oak historic doors that were in poor condition, in part due to unprofessional restoration in the past. The gate had a significantly lost decorative finish. So we found the same door on Tiktor Street, and based on those sketches we made copies of elements that were missing, ”said restorer Pavlo Voitovych.

In addition, the restorers restored the previously lost windows on the curtains of the gates that open from the entrance. Such windows were once made to make it convenient to wash the glass.

“And in the light we replaced simple ordinary glass with faceted glass, and at the bottom of the gate we put a previously lost bumper. In total, about 10% of the time-damaged wood had to be replaced, ”adds the restorer.

The total cost of the works was UAH 50,586. Of this amount, the city paid 70%, so the contribution of residents in the restoration of the gate amounted to 15 1476 UAH.

We will remind, since 2018 in Lviv the city hall finances the Program of co-financing of restoration of historical doors and gates. The program stipulates that 70% of the cost of work is paid by the city council, and 30% – by residents.
