Yesterday, December 25, the final matches of the Ukrainian tennis championship took place on the courts of the LeoLand complex.
This is the first competition in this sport at the national level after February 24.
“It is very important that thanks to our military we have the opportunity to hold such competitions. And it is very important that we have managed to preserve Ukrainian sports, that our athletes compete in international competitions and that we are able to hold domestic championships. Today, we hold a lot of competitions in Lviv, because from the first days of the war, we did everything to ensure that our athletes trained, and not only trained, but also had the opportunity to participate in competitions,” said Minister of Youth and Sports, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Vadim Gutsite.
In the women’s final, Anastasia Zaparyniuk from Lviv, who was the champion of Ukraine in the under-18 doubles category, and Alina Baranovska from Kyiv, who won 11 all-Ukrainian tournaments and 9 European ones during her career, met. The victory was won by the representative of Kyiv.
In the men’s final, Roman Boychuk from Lviv, who won awards at all-Ukrainian competitions 11 times, and Odesa representative Oleksandr Varychenko, who won the title of champion of Ukraine in 2015, met. The victory was won by a man from Lviv.
We will remind you that the last Ukrainian tennis championship was hosted by Lviv Oblast in 2013.
“The holding of the championship in Lviv became possible for the first time in many years, thanks to the partnership of business and the state, when private institutions are socially responsible and offered special conditions for holding national competitions,” says the head of the youth and sports department of the Lviv OVA Roman Khimyak.
