Radical changes took place on the second floor of the Drohobytsk city library for children – a new library space was opened there. The library premises were modernized thanks to renovations, new furniture and equipment.
As the head of the library system, Marta Andrusyk, said, the renovated premises housed a modern reading room, as well as a space where children could gather for master classes, literary readings and other interesting and unusual events.
The updated rooms of the book collection were traditionally consecrated by Father Andriy Bun, who wished the young readers and employees of the children’s library the further realization of their creative ideas and plans.
When the head of the Department of Culture and Tourism Development of the DMR Volodymyr Khanas took the floor, he noted that during the war it is very important to instill in children a love of books. After all, not only folk wisdom is concentrated in the books, here you can get to know a wonderful fairy-tale world that helps children to distract themselves from cruel modern realities, balance their inner state and plunge into an exciting world of adventures with their favorite characters and heroes.
This space was created primarily for children, for your learning, useful leisure and development. On the shelves, the book collection workers carefully arranged the books of our luminaries – Ivan Franko and Taras Shevchenko. It was they, through their wealth of knowledge and their works, who called on Ukrainians to be conscious patriots of their land, to love their native Motherland and protect it. These postulates are still relevant today. Therefore, thanks to such modern spaces in book collections, we take care of quality leisure time for our children, popularization of the printed word, language, culture and books in general, – noted Volodymyr Khanas.
Marta Andrusyk, head of the Drogobytsk Central Library, and Victoria Bilynska, director of the Drogobytsk City Library for Children, also addressed everyone present with a welcome speech.
The purpose of our updated space is to create a modern area for children’s high-quality communication, their useful leisure time and reading evenings. We reorganized the entire second floor into activity and recreation rooms for our young readers. Here, children will have the opportunity to read interesting literature, master digital skills, and learn new things at master classes. We are glad that this space will become a great platform for communication, social initiatives, personal development, learning and active leisure for our visitors. We thank the local authorities for their understanding and support of our projects – together we are changing our library spaces, – emphasized Marta Andrusyk.
Children’s creativity was added to the performances. Songs, musical compositions and literary skits were performed by students of V. Barvinsky Vocational College, creative students of Gymnasium No. 8, students of the Voluntary Society of Children and Youth with Disabilities “Nadia”, talented students of Lyceum No. 16, students of Drohobytsk Children’s Music School No. 1.
At the end of the event, the present children were awaited by a creative workshop from artist Galina Danylo from Boryslav. The children made toys out of hay with their talented craftsman.
In addition, the Drohobytsk city library for children is constantly being updated – for example, a few years ago, a new service called “Librarian” was introduced in the library, and this spring, an updated interactive space for children was opened here on the first floor.
