On the occasion of St. Nicholas Day, Lviv schools, kindergartens and hospitals held a mass campaign to read Christmas tales. The campaign “Lviv reads a fairy tale” was held simultaneously in all institutions so that as many children as possible in Lviv could join it.
Christmas-themed fairy tales were read to children by teachers, educators, doctors and even the first lady of the city, Kateryna Kit-Sadova.
“The action “Lviv reads a fairy tale” is an initiative of the Department of Education, which united all children around Christmas readings. It is very nice that despite the difficult situation in the country, they think about children and organize such unifying events. A fairy tale is the easiest approach to a child, and they are ready to listen to the advice of adults precisely through fairy tales. I chose Lesya Kichura’s fairy tale “Mykola’s Lost Gifts” for the children and I am glad that the children liked it,” said Andrii Onyshkiv, a physical education teacher at one of the city’s schools.
In the children’s hospital of St. Nicholas, children listened to the fairy tale “The Snow Queen” from the head of the maternity ward of the hospital Valdemar Nadizhka.
“Today is Saint Nicholas Day. And since our children’s hospital is patronized by St. Mykolaya is a symbolic place to join such a wonderful promotion. I read the children a fairy tale about the Snow Queen. Long ago in my childhood, I read this fairy tale and remembered that there is a deep philosophical undertone in this fairy tale. I wanted children to hear about this magical story and know that love and friendship can melt any ice. I noticed that the children were interested. It was a good opportunity to change the hospital ward to such a relaxed environment of the library and listen to a good, good fairy tale,” said Valdemar Nadizhko.
We would like to add that everyone can join the campaign and post photos or videos of readings in social networks with the hashtag #ЛьвівЧитајеКазку.
