In Chervonograd, the Museum of the History of Religion invites you to an exhibition of embroidery

On January 19, at 2:00 p.m., the Museum of the History of Religion (Potskyi Palace) will host the opening of the exhibition “Dnieper Patterns” from the funds of the Museum of the History of the City of Kamianske.

There is a long-standing cooperation between the museums. Employees of the Chervonograd branch have repeatedly participated in the “Mamayfest” festivals held at the Museum of History in Kamianske. In 2016, an “exchange of collections” of embroidered fabrics took place: in Kamianske, the exhibition “The Wonder of Galician Embroidery” was exhibited (from the funds of the Chervonohrad branch of the LMIR), and in Chervonograd – “The soul of my people – towels” (from the collection of the History Museum of Kamianske ). In 2018, our museum presented the exhibition of the artist Mykhailo Migrin “In the Flow of Time” from the museum in Kamiansk.

The exhibition “Dnipro Patterns” from Kamianskoe offers an interesting journey into the embroidered history of the inhabitants of Dnipro in the 19th and 20th centuries, because the selected exhibits are not just a beautiful composition, but an embroidered story. About 100 exhibits are presented here: shirts, tablecloths and towels. Geographically, it covers the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions. However, most of the towels come from Dnipropetrovsk region (Katerinoslav region).

Various techniques of canvases, embroideries themselves, their color execution, ornaments, decorations, various purposes of towels are widely presented at the exhibition. Each symbol on the ornament, colors and shape of a towel or shirt has its own symbolic meaning.

The exhibition also presents a symbol of national musical culture – a kobza with the text of the anthem “Ukraine is not dead yet”, made in 1918 by Mr. Zlobinets, a male gymnasium teacher (Poltava).
The exhibition will be open until the end of February.
