Man sentenced to 10 years in prison for rape of minor in Lviv region

Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, a 40-year-old man was found guilty of rape of a minor (part 4 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Prosecutors proved in court that a resident of a village in the Lviv region had repeatedly raped a young girl for five years.

The man lived in the same house with his brother, his partner and her children. The children were often left to him to look after, and he took advantage of the absence of adults to systematically rape one of the girls.

The sexual abuse of the victim began when she was just 7 years old.

After the rapes, the man used psychological pressure and threats against the minor to keep her silent and not tell anyone about what he had done.

At the court hearing, the defendant did not admit his guilt and did not repent of his actions. However, based on the evidence gathered, prosecutors proved his guilt in full.

During the trial, the children were not summoned to court for questioning, which helped to avoid repeated psychological trauma. The testimony of minors obtained in the Green Room was used as evidence.

Until the verdict enters into force, the defendant will be held in custody.

Information about him will be entered into the Register of persons convicted of crimes against sexual freedom and sexual inviolability of a minor.
