Police serve notice of suspicion to Lviv resident who inflicted fatal stab wounds to his own father
It has been established that a domestic conflict arose between the men, during which the son stabbed his father several times, causing injuries that later resulted in his death in hospital. The suspect faces imprisonment for up to fifteen years for his crime.
The police received a report of a bloody man on the balcony of an apartment in a building on Ivan Franko Street in Lviv on 6 June at around 18.00.
Criminal police operatives, investigators and other officers of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 immediately arrived at the address. A medical team was also called to the scene.
In the apartment, law enforcement officers found two men – a 79-year-old Lviv resident, the owner of the apartment, and his son, also a resident of Lviv aged 44. The older man had multiple stab wounds and penetrating wounds to the abdominal cavity.
As the police found out, that day the son came to his father’s house and at some point a domestic conflict arose between them, during which the younger of the participants stabbed the older several times in different parts of the body, causing injuries from which the latter later died in hospital despite the efforts of doctors.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Galician District Prosecutor’s Office, served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 115 (Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint for the suspect.
