An indictment against a 53-year-old man was sent to the court under the procedural guidance of the Frankivska District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv. He is accused of offering and providing an illegal benefit to an official (Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in January of this year, in one of the police departments of the city of Lviv, the suspect tried to “solve the issue” of not bringing him to criminal responsibility.
For this, he offered and provided a bribe of UAH 3,500 to the senior informant. In this way, the person involved tried to avoid responsibility for drug possession (Part 1 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
After being offered an illegal benefit, the police officer refused to receive it and immediately made a corresponding statement to the law enforcement authorities, and subsequently acted under their control.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Department of the National Police of the region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
